The mandatory Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) for rental properties in England were introduced on 1 July 2020. We experienced a huge rush in 2020 as landlord and letting agents booked in their properties to meet the deadline. Since they are required every 5 years, many landlords will now need to renew their EICRs before July 2025.
Steps to Renew Your EICR
Book an Inspection Early – Demand may rise as the renewal deadline approaches.
Use a Qualified Electrician – Ensure they are registered with NICEIC, NAPIT, or another competent scheme.
Provide the New EICR to Tenants – Within 28 days of receiving it.
Complete Any Required Repairs – Within 28 days if issues are found.
Keep Records Safe – You’ll need them for compliance checks.
